What You Need to Know About Confidentiality

Your student's participation in the counseling program includes the following rights: all the information discussed between the counselor and student(s) is held strictly confidential so that students can feel comfortable opening up to the counselor.
There are 3 exceptions to this rule, meaning I would have to break confidentiality if:
-
child abuse/neglect is suspected
-
the student presents a physical danger to his/herself or to others
-
the disclosure is allowed by a court order
