Homework/Study Tips

  • Be sure to check Homelink to stay up to date on your child's progress in each class.

    • If you do not have the login information, contact the main office.

  • Help keep your student organized by regularly cleaning out their backpacks, discarding/filing away old assignments, and/or color coding items.

  • Have students practice using iready at home regularly to develop their Math/Reading skills.

  • Check to see if your student's teachers have a Google classroom.  Not all have a Google classroom, but this is where a lot of information is posted.

  • Assign a specific area for studying at home.

    • Eliminate as much distraction as possible by creating a quiet environment for your student to study

  • Keep a designated space for backpacks/books/materials

    • This can be especially helpful for children moving between multiple homes.

  • Set specific hours for electronic use to minimize their use.

  • Provide students with a "completed" or "turn in" folder for work so that students won't misplace that work.

  • Help teach your child how to "scaffold" their work.

    • Help them break their work down into smaller steps with multiple "deadlines to avoid leaving any work until the last minute and so assignments don't become overwhelming.
